Biography
Luc Peters is an anachronistic artist who takes an innovative approach to classical sculpture. His sculptures are in a field of tension between traditional techniques and the ready-mades of Marcel Duchamp. By combining recycling materials, fossils, stones and found objects with traditional sculptural methods such as casting with concrete in sand. It gives his work a fresh and contemporary look.
Peters' sculptures often appear unfinished or tarnished, evoking a sense of tragedy and human experience. Nevertheless, they exude a tender, mystical beauty, thanks to the clever use of different materials. His work is timeless, reflecting influences of archaeology with both Baroque and Gothic elements.
Luc Peters, born in Roermond in 1950, studied at the art academies of Maastricht and Tilburg and his divergent style makes his art special and recognizable.
